Denver Zoo

Springtime at the zoo brought some good surprises. Usually, the animals stay inside and won't come out to play unless the conditions are perfect. I had never heard a real lion roar until today. It was good that somewhere in the country was pretty and sunny while the rest of the nation was under severe weather watches and warnings. Hopefully, this brings some sunlight to someone's day.

Spring Starts

Spring has officially arrived in Colorado. Flowers are blooming, trees are budding, and bugs are flying all around. While we still have occasional freezes over night, everything is finally awakening from the cold blanket of winter. To celebrate, I took my camera along with the new macro lens I recently purchased and snapped a few pictures of my mother's garden and our tree out front. This is the only time of year our tree actually changes. After this, it stays green and plastic-looking until late December, usually around Christmas. Here's hoping for a beautifully inspirational season.

This isn't her whole garden, just the flowers in the front of the house. The backyard is another story. Fruit trees, Strawberry bushes, raspberry bushes, and blackberry bushes, along with a random pumpkin vine that was produced by accident one year when discarding pumpkin seeds from a Halloween carving into the compost pile. I love happy accidents.
